Pregnancy creates a lot of changes in a woman’s body. Most often there is stretching and relaxation of the abdomen and breasts. The breasts experience a loss of volume as well as tone and there may be some residual fat collections in the hip and waist area. I see a lot of women who request a “Mommy Make-Over” to reverse these changes. During the consultation I let patients express all of their concerns, and it is generally safe to treat everything at once. Most often surgery involves some sort of mastopexy (breast lift) and an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck, mini-tummy tuck or mini-abdominoplasty) depending on the degree of redundancy. Abdominal stretch marks (abdominal striations) can be excised and residual stretch marks are more taut and seem less crepy. Occasionally women will also like a breast augmentation to restore breast size. Also, sometimes liposuction of the hip and flank area is performed to eliminate persistent pockets of fat in the love handle and waist area.Every “Mommy Make-Over” is customized to meet each patients individual needs For more information check my website at www.drgenter.com, call my office at 215-572-7744, or email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Do you have to stay in the hospital a couple of days if you do both procedures at the same time?
If the procedure takes more than 4 hours it is safer to have the surgery in the hospital with a 1 night stay.

Is there a ball-park estimate that you can provide in terms of cost for a mommy makeover? Also, what is the recovery time for getting back to work?
Mike, I’m sorry it took so long to reply- I have been out of the country. It is tough to give an estimate because the “mommy makeover” is so individualized. Some patients need a full tummy tuck, others a mini-tuck with or without liposuction. Breasts may require an augmentation, a lift, or a combination. The cost range is so broad that is is pointless to even give a range. I am not trying to be evasive. If you call my office my staff may be able to give you some idea, but a consultation is needed to give an accurate answer.
The second part of your question is easier to address. For breast surgery alone I recommend 1 week off from work. For a typical full or mini-tummy tuck with tightening of the muscle layer I usually recommend 2 weeks off from work.
Thank you for your questions and please call my office for more specific info. Dr. Genter
Hi, I’m interested in a mommy makeover. I wanted to get a round about price. Also do you do bleaching? How much is that procedure?
I am a brown skin woman and I want to be one solid tone. I have one shade of brown on my face, then another on my butt and thigh is there any help? have you ever seen stretch marks on the back of legs like on the calves? is there a procedure that can help?
Dear Jenifer: I was away and unable to work on the blog so I appologize for the delayed answer. I honestly cannot give you a price estimate without examining you. A “Mommy Makeover” is very individualized to the body changes that each patient experienced with pregnancy. Some women need breast implants, some need breast lifts, and some need both. Also, some patients may need a full tummy tuck, some a mini-tuck, and some only liposuction. Some patients also need liposuction of the hip and waist areas. I believe in customizing the surgety to each patient’s needs and doing the least amount of work to meet your goals. I wish there was a non-surgical solution for stretch marks, but there is none. Many abdominal stretch marks are removed with a tummy tuck.
I would be happy to examine you in the office so we can come up with a plan.
With regards to bleaching, we do not perform this in our office. However we do offer laser hair removal for more permanent solution. Also, a skin care program could even out the problems with your complexion. Patty, our Skin Care expert, could help you with this.
Thanks for your interest, Dr. Genter
Hi, I have been researching the “mommy makerover” and came across the term Transabdominal Breast Augmentation (TABA). Have you heard of this? Can Silicon Gel implants be used with this technique to reduce scarring?
