Abdominoplasty

Diet and exercise sometimes do very little to eliminate unwanted fat and loose skin in your abdominal area. If you are bothered by these appearance problems, abdominoplasty (the tummy tuck) may be a good solution for you.

Abdominoplasty is frequently performed after childbirth or significant weight loss, to rid a person of excess skin and to tighten the weak abdominal wall muscles.

Who Can Benefit from Tummy Tuck Surgery?

Candidates for a tummy tuck should meet the following criteria:

  • Stable body weight
  • Excess skin around midsection
  • Non-smoker
  • Understand risks/benefits of surgery
  • Desire a flatter, firmer abdomen

Goals of Abdominoplasty

Tighter skin, a more appealing navel area and improved contour of the abs are just some of the aesthetic goals involved in tummy tuck surgery.

How is Abdominoplasty performed?

A traditional abdominoplasty requires an incision above the pubic line from hip to hip. A limited amount of fat can be removed with liposuction before the excess skin is removed and the abdominal muscles are repaired.

The incisions are typically placed in a location that can be easily hidden with the patient’s clothing. There are different methods that can be utilized to meet the needs of each patient, including endoscopic abdominoplasty, lipoabdominoplasty, and mini-abdominoplasty.

The consultation with Dr. Genter represents the best opportunity to determine an appropriate abdominoplasty technique for you.
